- Story
“This is Javakheti. There are villages and families living near these lakes. ... Javakheti like trialeti is without vineyard, without forest, but the ground is rich. Air is pleasent, even better than in other places. Winter here is quite cold and with lots of snow. There are sheep, lots of fish and many different kinds of birds in this region. Honey is famouse from here, too. “
Vakhushti Batonishvili, Georgian Geography, Tbilisi, 1904
Dukhoubors in Georgia
„Doukhobors made eight villages in Javakheti. They named the villages after the ones from their homeland: Tambovka, Bogdanovka (nowadays called as Ninotsminda), Gorelovka, Spasovka, Orlovka, Efremovka, Troetskoe (now called Sameba), Rodionovka. They made comunas in their villages and had shared granaries and dining halls. ”
