From the history of the lake
„...They built Gardabani irrigation system in 1870 here. This is how this lake was made. In 1927 the lake was all drain, but they filled it with water again a year later. Some scientists think, That the lake used to appear and dissapear: it was filled during heavy rains but during summer it was dried.
The saurce of Jandara lake is most of all the river Mtkvari. It's frozen very seldom. The water isn't drinkable. The lake is full of fish including sheat-fish and carb. Each year up to 700 metric center of fish are cought here.“

„The king gave it to us“
„... In the place where we have Jandara lake now, there was an irigation building in the 4th century. It was renewd and rebuilt in the 17th century during Vakhtang VI's kingdom. Vakhushti Bagrationi is writing about that: „"Here the king brought the saurce from the river Mtkvari and the fields around are being irritated after that.“ The irritation building was built here. Then this canal was forgatten until 1865-67 when it was rebuilt again. That was done by an English enginner Gamba.
